Re: Pay-as-you-drain system pondered by city council (News, Feb. 18)
So Victoria council is at it again with another tax grab to milk homeowners. No chance that anybody already uses their runoff to water the garden or has other systems in place. No, councillors see a chance to set up a bureaucracy and charge people for living. That should bring in a few bucks to hire their cronies and jack up their pay once again.
While there, maybe the green geniuses could be asked why they spent thousands of tax dollars at the Crystal Pool to tear out a perfectly good water fountain and replace it with a shiny new one with a digital readout to say how much water you are drinking and how many water bottles you are saving. Right next to this are two massive vending machines selling bottled water for profit.
