One of the more common comments from the pro deer cull advocates pertains to the number of sick or injured deer they have seen.
I agree that these poor creatures should be put out of their misery but unfortunately the method proposed by Oak Bay is not discriminatory. The first deer, be it a healthy animal or a lame or sick animal, into the trap will be slain.
By removing 25 deer in this manner the sick and lame could still be free and suffering. A cull is a selective process, weeding out the sick and injured versus a kill which this basically is. It should be selective.
