What to do when you’re golfing with Tyson Barrie and wearing his signed jersey and Jamie Benn gives you his? Tristan Piercey just grins at the surprise gift and dons them both during the Power to Be fundraiser Power to Golf at the Victoria Golf Club.

Power to Be participants Piercy, Adam Irwin Gunn and Todd Morrison all scored jerseys during the Power to Golf event.

“It’s important to come out these things. It can really make so many great memoreis and be part of a good cause and I met a couple great gentlemen here today that are pretty happy and excited,” Jamie Benn said after gifting the jerseys. “Something so little can mean so much.”

Members of the business and sports community from Victoria, Vancouver and as far afield as New York and Dallas come together in support of Power To Be to reach its fundraising goal of $350,000 this year. To date, the event has raised more than $1 million in support of inclusive adventures rooted in nature.

“All funds raised support Power to Be. What we believe is that everyone belongs in nature and if you have a barrier or disability that can’t get out in nature we help get you there,” said Dana Hutchings, Director of Advancement and Communications, Power To Be. “It is so amazing to see the support that has come out today, people get so excited about this event. It’s the 11th Power to Golf and people come back every year and get excited about golfing and supporting the organization. We just love this community and what they do for us.”

About 150 golfers braved rain and wind on the oceanside course and about 300 are expected for the private reception.
