Victoria’s ongoing battle of Grade 9 girls basketball teams has come to an end as city and Island champs Pacific Christian won’t be attending provincials this week.
Pacific Christian defeated Oak Bay in the Grade 9 girls city championships last week and the Island Championships the week before that.
Both schools qualified for the two Island berths at the provincials in Kelowna, March 4-6.
This year junior B girls basketball, often consisting of Grade 9 teams (with some Grade 8s), has its own provincials, separate from the junior A provincials. However, PCS have elected to end the season there, as the junior squad’s four Grade 9s will join PCS’ senior team at single-A provincials in Sparwood, March 9-12.
