The Victoria Royals are on a four-game winning steak after Monday's 3-0 win over the Prince George Cougars at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

With the four-game streak Royals now have seven wins and five losses in 12 games, first in the B.C. Division, though the Kelowna Rockets (5-1-0-2) have played four less games. The Royals and Cougars meet again in Victoria on Wednesday night (Oct. 16), 7 p.m. start.

Logan Nelson (inset photo from Monday) scored the game-winning goal just two and a half minutes into Monday's matinee against the Cougars when he drilled home a perfect two-on-one pass from Brandon Fushimi.

The Cougars skated well but were unable to create many quality scoring chances against Royals goalie Patrick Polivka, who challenged shooters by coming far out of his net to earn the shutout on 24 shots, a couple of them sharp. The Royals' team defence quietly frustrated the Cougars.

Nelson was dangerous offensively and was in on all three Royals goals. On a sweeping drive during the power play in the final minute of the first period Nelson slipped two defenders and shot from in tight, nearly scoring. Brandon Magee smacked at the first rebound before Austin Carroll knocked it under Cougars goalie Brett Zarowny. Nelson recorded the second assist on Carroll's goal.

The 20-year-old Buffalo Sabres prospect added an empty-netter for his third point of game to seal the Royals' seventh victory of the season.
