An Okanagan veteran hockey player has signed a contract with the back-to-back NHL Stanley Cup finalists.
Curtis Lazar has signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
Lazar is no stranger to Edmonton. The 30-year-old spent his junior career with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings for three seasons, culminating with a Memorial Cup Championship in 2014.
Born in Salmon Arm, Lazar played his youth hockey with the Vernon Minor Hockey Association before moving to Penticton for prep play.
In the NHL, Lazar has played 11 seasons, starting in Ottawa, then moving to Calgary, Buffalo, Boston, Vancouver and New Jersey. His high-water mark season was in 2023-24 with the Devils, potting seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points in 71 games.
