A Kelowna Minor Hockey Association (KMHA) official got the call to the big leagues on Wednesday night.

Melissa Brunn has been a linesperson in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) game but on Jan. 8, as the Montreal Victoire and Toronto Sceptres faced-off in Vancouver as part of the league's 'Takeover Series', she got to referee her first career game in the league, in her home province.

On top of her time in the PWHL, Brunn had previously refereed games at the international level and after the 2023-24 season, she was named the KIJHL (Kooteney International Junior Hockey League) official of the year.

Brunn is from Kamloops.
