Team Dangerfield and Team Cowan headed to nationals in November

It was high-stakes action all weekend long at the Abbotsford Curling Centre as the facility hosted the BC Senior Curling Championships, determining who would be advancing to represent their province at nationals.

For the men's division, a total of 21 teams battled it out, with Victoria's Team Dangerfield emerging victorious on Sunday (March 23).

After a hot start that saw the squad outscore their opponents 38-14 in their first four matches, they were bested by Team Pierce in a 9-4 loss on Friday evening.

However, they bounced back and went unbeaten for the rest of the tournament, including a tightly contested battle against fellow Vancouver Island squad, Team Craig, for the title.

On the women's side, it was Team Cowan who came out on top, despite an early setback after losing to Kelowna's Team Gushulak 6-5 in the opening round.

However, Team Cowan showed their resilience and came back strong to avoid any further losses, even notching a revenge win against Team Gushulak in the semifinals.

Silver went to Team Shantz, while it was Team Gushulak who won bronze.

The two winning teams will now make up Team BC at the 2025 Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships, which take place in Ottawa from Nov. 29 to Dec. 6.
