Racers young and old line up for Tour de Victoria

Racers of all ages took off from the start line for this year’s Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria on Saturday (Aug. 19).

Setting off at 9 a.m. for the 60-kilometre race, the event’s namesake, Ryder Hesjedal, returned to the race and lined up alongside five-year-old Michael Greenway, who was also participating in the 60-kilometre race.

“I’m excited to be back in Victoria for TdV weekend,” said Hesjedal, in a news release. “Watching the event continue to grow after 12 years, with the hundreds of volunteers who come out to put on this amazing event, makes me proud to call Victoria home.”

Event organizers said this event was set to have more participants than any previous year.
