On the not-so-frozen asphalt, players hone their skills in the purest of forms. There is a freedom known by everyone who has played hockey in the street, where a mutual respect is shared between drivers of interrupting cars and players waiting to get back to their game.
Now there’s a league for the self-taught, street hockey boys and girls as young as five years old. Registration for the Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey league is open for the 2011 season.
Sign up in person from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at George R. Pearkes Recreation Centre and Eagle Ridge Community Centre, Saturday, Feb. 19 and 26.
