Shamrocks hope to even series at home for Game 4

Two late goals put the Langley Thunder over the Victoria Shamrocks 12-10 in Game 3 on Wednesday (Aug. 21)

The Victoria Shamrocks have fallen behind in the Western Lacrosse Association final best-of-seven series to the Langley Thunder, 2-1.

The Thunder scored two late goals from Garrett Billings and Mark Matthews in Langley on Wednesday to thwart the Shamrocks and win Game 3 over the Shamrocks 12-10.

Game 3 goes Friday (Aug. 23), 7:45 p.m. at Bear Mountain Arena.

Jeff Shattler scored two goals and five assists to lead the Shamrocks' attack.

The Shamrocks were losing by four in the second period when Shayne Jackson of the Thunder took a five minute major for checking from behind. The Rocks used the five-minute power play to end the second period down 8-7 on a powerplay goal from Brody Eastwood and two more from Scott Ranger.

The Thunder scored four in the third period to the Shamrocks' three.

Thunder goalie Nick Rose started in place of Brodie McDonald, who took the loss in Game 2. Goalie Matt Vinc stopped 30 of 42 shots for the Shamrocks with Matt Flindell making all three saves during a brief spell in net on Wednesday.
