Victoria rower Caileigh Filmer is part of the team to have qualified at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for the women's eight rowing final on Aug. 3.
The women's eight team came second in Thursday's (Aug. 1) repechage, finishing behind the U.S. team. It was their second chance to qualify after finishing third in their heat on Monday (July 29).
Canada's women's eight-rowing team won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, so Filmer and her fellow rowers will be hoping to defend the title. This is Filmer's third time competing at the Olympics. At the Tokyo Games, she and Hillary Janssens won bronze in women's coxless pairs, earning Canada’s first Olympic medal in the event since Barcelona 1992. She made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016 as a member of the women’s eight team, finishing fifth.
The women’s eight-rowing final takes place on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 1:50 a.m. PT.
