Coming off a rare tie, the Victoria Shamrocks (5-1-1) will look to add to the win column when they battle their Island rivals for the first time this season tonight in Nanaimo.

The Timbermen (3-3) are off to a solid, if unspectacular start to their year, and currently find themselves in a log jam in the standings, with the Coquitlam Adanacs and the Maple Ridge Burrards also at 3-3 and the New Westminster Salmonbellies in their sights at 3-3-1 following Friday’s 12-12 tie with the ‘Rocks at The Q Centre on Friday.

The Shamrocks took all three games between the two clubs last year and will hope to keep that run of dominance going.

If they’re to accomplish that, captain Corey Small will likely find himself in the middle of the action. The skilled forward has a sizeable 11-point lead in the league’s scoring race with 38 points (15 goals and 23 assists).

New addition Tyler Hass and playmaker Mike Triolo will look to provide supplementary scoring while Cody Hagedorn will be back in the ‘Rocks’ net after getting most of the night off on Friday in favour of Aaron Bold.

Bold, widely touted as one of the best lacrosse goalies in the world, made 55 saves in his season debut for the club.

The ‘Rocks are back on their home floor next Friday at The Q Centre when the Maple Ridge Burrards come to town.
