Tonight’s hardcourt matchup between the UBC Thunderbirds and UVic Vikes is much more than a rivalry between foes.
The double header of men’s and women’s basketball also serves as the final leg of Shoot For A Cure, a national initiative raising funds and awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Heaps of prizes will be given away throughout both games, including a raffle for four Sarah McLachlan tickets (anyone who wears pink earns an automatic entry).
Other prizes up for grabs are two tickets to the main event of TASTE: Victoria’s Festival of Food & Wine, a $160 value, as well as a Fairway Market $50 gift certificate.
The night also features belly dancers and the Vikes’ usual third-quarter fan participation game, Tic Tac Go.
A Wall of Hope banner will be hung in the main lobby for fans and athletes to sign.
Victoria is the last of 42 nationwide Shoot For a Cure games. Last year, 36 CIS schools participated raising $94,650 for the CBCF.
UVic and UBC women tip off at 6 p.m., while the men go at 8 p.m. in McKinnon Gymnasium.
