Connor Bryan’s debut as head coach of the Westshore Rebels arrives Saturday, as the team opens its Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) season on the road against the Prince George Kodiaks.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on July 19, launching a new chapter for the Rebels under Bryan, who steps into the top job after joining the team’s coaching staff in 2022. He replaces Mark Townsend, who departed after one season at the helm.
“We’ve had a strong main camp, the guys are hungry, and we’re ready to set the tone for the season,” Bryan said. “Prince George is a tough place to play, but we’re prepared to go up there and make a statement.”
Westshore’s lineup features a mix of experienced returnees and exciting new additions, including Texas-born quarterback Gavin Sessions and reigning team MVP Bryce Reuther.
Fans will get their first look at Bryan’s squad at the home opener on Sunday, July 27 at 4 p.m., when the Rebels host the Valley Huskers at Starlight Stadium.
The 2025 schedule includes 10 regular-season games – five at home and five on the road – with the finale set for Sept. 27.
Last year, Westshore posted a 7-3 record before falling 23-17 to the Okanagan Sun in the Cullen Cup final.
This season’s playoffs begin Oct. 11, with the top four teams advancing. The Cullen Cup championship is set for Oct. 26 at the home of the highest remaining seed.
Since 2016, the Rebels have reached six Cullen Cup finals and made two Canadian Bowl appearances.
