The Canadian Forces Snowbirds have released their 2024 airshow schedule, and plan to return to the Comox Valley at the beginning of the show season.
The air demonstration team released its schedule Tuesday, with its first show set for May 18 in Comox in association with its annual spring training and the 2024 Comox Armed Forces Day/19 Wing Airshow.
The airshow is in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Air Force’s centennial celebration of service as a distinct military element on April 1, 2024.
The milestone celebration will continue throughout the year; with the airshow set for May 18 at 19 Wing, it will showcase the Air Force with an invitation to the public to enter the wing, meet those who serve, enjoy static aircraft on display and watch captivating flying displays, including the Snowbirds.
The team will then head to Quebec and Ontario for June, and then do their traditional Canada Day Fly Past in Ottawa. They will then head to Yellowknife, Cold Lake and Wisconsin in July.
Their first summer show in B.C. is scheduled for the Abbotsford Air Show on Aug. 9 to 11, before the team heads east to Greenwood, NS, then Toronto and back to Quebec before finishing the season in Reno, Nevada on Oct. 5 and 6.
431 Air Demonstration Squadron consists of approximately 80 personnel, 24 of whom comprise the show team that travels during the show season. They have been a fixture at airshows and entertaining audiences across North America since 1971.
Additionally, the CF 18 Air Demonstration Team also released their schedule on the same day. The F-18 is set to participate in the 19 Wing Airshow, with stops in Ontario, Quebec throughout the summer and at the Abbotsford Air Show on Aug. 10 and 11.
