Sprawling Langford Beer Festival tapped to return bigger than ever this summer

The Victoria Beer Society announced its return at the first Fridays at the Station pop-up of 2023

Beer lovers of Langford rejoice, the Victoria Beer Society has announced the return of two hoppy events this summer.

Friday (May 12) marked the return of Fridays at the Station, which sees Langford Station turned into a miniature beer garden each Friday, May through August from 3 to 8 p.m., with the society’s beer truck serving up fine B.C. craft beer and local food trucks providing good eats.

Each event features the local businesses and artists which call the cultural district home, as well as live music.

Friday’s event had OK Charlie hit the stage while crowds filled the area, taking time between brews and bites to browse the vendor container shops.

But Friday’s event was about more than just the return of beer at the station. The society also announced the much larger Langford Beer Festival is set to return on July 15 at Starlight Stadium.

After a sell-out inaugural year in 2022, the festival is expanding this year to keep up with demand, and will be taking place on the 80,000 sq. ft. of space rather than the plaza pond area used last year.

The first edition already features 40 craft breweries, but this year’s event promises even more breweries, food vendors, entertainment, and fun.

A 19-plus event, the festival is set to include live music, lawn games, a 100-foot-long inflatable obstacle course, and more than 80 different brews and ciders on tap.

Opening hours for the event have also been extended, with gates set to open at 3 p.m., and multiple entrances to reduce congestion. A complimentary bike valet will also be offered to encourage active transportation.

Tickets are on sale now at langfordbeerfest.com and start at $45 for non-members and $40 for VBS members. Each ticket includes admission, a tasting glass, and 10 drink tokens redeemable for a four-ounce sample tasting. Premium tickets will be available for $75, which includes a glass, 16 drink tickets, and access to a premium lounge.

Discounts on tickets can also be earned through the society’s new app Beer Quest. The app allows users to complete quests and check in at participating locations to earn badges and points. Points can be accumulated and then redeemed for discount codes to any Victoria Beer Society event, including the Langford Beer Festival.
