John McKinley

I have been a Black Press Media journalist for more than 30 years.

After honing my craft with smaller weekly newspapers in the ‘90s, I had a 15-year run as managing editor of the award-winning Cowichan News Leader Pictorial, followed by stints as the city editor of the Nanaimo Daily News and Vancouver Island Free Daily.

I moved fully into the company’s digital media department in 2021 and am responsible for guiding and distributing digital news content throughout British Columbia, with an emphasis on newsletters, news services and Vancouver Island news.
