The City of Victoria marks Downtown Appreciation Month with a bid to pump up people, places and small moments that make the heart of the city special.
Primarily a social media campaign, I (heart) DWTN kicks off with a video by local chef Ria Rathore showcasing their B.C. Day meanderings in downtown from the WIN Thrift Shop to Ayo Eat and Thrift Craft Victoria in Market Square, and finishing with live symphony in the Inner Harbour and hot noodles from Kinton Ramen before the fireworks finale hosted by the city.
The campaign is led by the City of Victoria and supported by the Downtown Victoria Business Association.
Summer is a high season for visitors in Victoria, with both the city and DVBA planning for fall enticement. Sept. 1 marks the start of the Snack Crawl featuring 20 bakeries, cafes, candy shops, chocolatiers, patisseries, grocery stores and general stores in downtown Victoria.
Discover new snacks and stock up on old favourites until Sept. 30 for a chance to win prizes. Pick up a stamp card at any participating shop, buy treats with discounts piling up, and collect 10 stamps from different shops to enter to win a prize pack of treats.
Those heading into the core for shopping and more should also be on the lookout for five new dog portraits featured in the Douglas Street art kiosks as part of a rotating photo series. Celebrating Victoria’s furry friends, 15 dogs will be featured throughout the year.
