Victoria Bike Rave has been hosting events across the region, including the downtown core of Victoria.

A unique community dance event is rolling into Langford and all you need is something with wheels to take part.

Beginning at Jordie Lunn Bike Park, 2990 Irwin Rd., the Langford Bike Rave will be cruising through the city, navigating a fun and scenic route with stops along the way to rest, hang out, dance and take in the views.

A rolling soundtrack of electronic music will be provided by four DJs spinning everything from disco and house to garage, dubstep and drum and bass.

Taking place Saturday (Aug. 30), from 4 to 10 p.m., the free community event is for all ages.

"Bring your bike, scooter, skateboard or anything with wheels (electric or human-powered)," say organizers Victoria Bike Rave, who strongly encourage all participants to wear helmets and protective gear – especially children.

To help light up the night after the sun goes down, ravers are encouraged to deck out their ride with lights and LEDs.

Inspired by a similar event in Seoul, South Korea, it was Mike Stulberg and Alex Kalicki who brought the bike rave phenomenon to Greater Victoria.

In recent years, events have been held across the region, sometimes drawing hundreds of cycling and music fans.

A full map of the Langford route with a time schedule will be posted online before the event.
