It’s among the biggest home shows on the Island and it’s coming to Pearkes Recreation Centre behind Tillicum shopping centre this weekend.
In Victoria, it’s just as popular to rejuvenate a character house as it is to build a new one and homeowners want to customize the floors, windows, kitchens, bathrooms and decks as much as they can.
It’s why 15,000 people are expected to tour the three-day Victoria Early Spring Home Renovation and Décor Show, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The expo is free to attend and features more than 150 vendors, including contractors, roofers, landscapers and more.
“Attendees are a mix of returning regulars who keep coming,” said Darcy Hope, show manager and president of Island-based Evergreen Exhibitions which runs the show, “but there’s also the active group of people who are renovating. That crowd goes [in waves].”
It’s not just to see the latest technologies and products available. It’s also to see everything under one roof, which is really handy, Hope said.
“Planning renovations are very daunting and time-consuming, with this you can find everything you might need.”
The Early Spring home show has a greater focus on outdoor living and preparing for the warm season while the same company’s fall home show at Pearkes is oriented a bit more towards prepping for winter.
The show offers plenty of free giveaways, samples, in-booth demos and tutorials.
Admission is free to the Early Spring home show which runs Friday, Feb. 22 from 1 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
