A waterfront hotel in Victoria will temporarily close its doors for a $6.2-million makeover.
Renovation work at the 132-room Coast Victoria Harbourside Hotel & Marina, owned by North American hotel chain Coast Hotels & Resorts, will entail exterior and interior improvements.
The work will require the hotel and its Blue Crab Bar & Grill to close for four months, beginning Dec. 27. The hotel, located on the Inner harbour, is scheduled to reopen next spring, in time for the hotel’s 21st anniversary on June 19.
"The temporary closure of the hotel allows us to focus on completing the renovation as quickly as possible with minimal disruption to guests," hotel general manager Scott Quinney said in a statement.
The goal of the massive project is to give the hotel “a fresh, new modern look” while keeping its “classic West Coast ambience,” he said.
