Visitors to Windsor Park took a trip down memory lane with a fleet of vintage cars on display at the Jaguars on the Island event on Saturday (July 22).

Since its start in 2005, the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria (JCCV) has been the proud host of the annual event, which attracts Jaguar owners from B.C., Alberta, Washington, Oregon and sometimes California and Arizona.

The Oak Bay showcase consistently holds the distinction of being the largest open-air gathering of Jaguar automobiles in North America.

Visitor Bob Leach had fond memories of his own youth spent driving old British sports cars like the Triumph Spitfire.

“I know the joy of top-down-driving an old British automobile.”

Jaguars On The Island includes three days of social events.

“There may be 120 or more Jaguars presented … Most are on display, while many are being judged. They range from 1950s sports cars and large saloons to present-day Jaguar electric vehicles. Jaguar cars is doing their best for the environment by halting petrol-fuelled engine production and going all-electric after next year. Examples of what is to come will be parked on the field,” Carole Borgens, JCCV vice-president, said in a previous interview with Black Press Media.
