Colwood Fire Rescue welcomes community with open house

Crowds took a tour of the Firefighter’s Historical Museum, fire trucks and the station

Colwood Fire Rescue welcomed the public to the fire department this weekend for a fun and educational day.

The fire department held an open house Sunday (June 11) that gave the community an opportunity to tour the Firefighter’s Historical Museum, fire trucks and the station.

“This allows us to showcase what the fire department is, the importance behind it and what we’re all about,” Colwood Fire Chief Bryan Erwin said. “It’s really nice to see a good crowd come out, and we really lucked out with nice weather. This also allows people to ask questions and it’s big for recruiting. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet the community. We have large and growing community in Colwood.”

There was also an auto extrication display, a hose and target station and fire extinguisher training.

SeaFirst Insurance Brokers put on a barbecue during the event with donations going to Colwood Volunteer Firefighters’ Association community initiatives.
