The Compost Education Centre will hold it's August plant sale and celebration on Aug. 10 at its Fernwood location.

A Victoria non-profit is ready to help growers turn their gardens into hotbeds of activity even as the weather turns cool.

The Compost Education Centre will hold its August plant sale and celebration from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 10. The event will feature a selection of vegetables that are suitable for fall and winter growing.

The centre provides composting and organic gardening education to residents of the Capital Region. Its demonstration site and teaching garden at 1216 North Park St. will host the annual plant sale event, which will also include a bike-powered music show.

Some of the plants that will be available at the sale include low maintenance native species, perennial edibles like berry bushes and a number of medicinal herbs.

Entry to plant sale is by donation, but the event will be free to the centre's members. Dogs will also be welcome.
