Residents express well-wishes after popular pup announces retirement

A beloved figure in Victoria’s Inner Harbour is wagging his tail into retirement.

Winston, a canine ambassador who has been the Fairmont Empress greeter since 2019, has made headlines around the globe for his expertise in guest services.

“I will dearly miss greeting guests and bringing a sense of calm to the hotel. Thanks for all the belly rubs, treats, walks and love – I’ll never forget it,” reads an Instagram post.

The post announcing his retirement was met with an outpouring of well-wishes and fond memories from residents.
