FernFest nears two decades of community building

19th aqnnual event takes place at Fernwood Square all weekend.

An entertainment and arts-filled celebration of community happens this weekend, as the 19th annual FernFest takes over Fernwood Square.

Organized by the Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group (NRG) , the free events include a night of 15 local musicians and bands from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday (June 21), including such names as Microbongo Sound System, BoneHoof, The New Groovement, The Woodsmen, The Sweet Endings and David P. Smith’s Golden Country Clan. A 19-plus refreshment tent is available from which patrons can listen.

Summer solstice Saturday kicks off at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast outside the Fernwood Inn, followed by an artisan market, Kids Zone, bike parade, arts stroll, silent auction, carnival games and more. For more details, visit fernwoodnrg.ca.
