Foodie fest returns to Oak Bay Avenue with a vintage twist

Oak Bay Village Spring Nosh is June 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A feeding frenzy and four hours of ice sculpting heat up the action on Oak Bay Avenue with the return of the Spring Nosh.

“We’ve got good participation,” said Heather Leary, event organizer with the host Business Improvement Association.

A couple new businesses will join the returning longtime participants.

The Whole Beast returns with a variety of barbecue items. Ottavio Italian Bakery brings its house-made gelato on offer with its gelato cart. FARO Handcrafted Pizza and Tasting Room returns with street-side pizza ovens for made-to-order pizza throughout the day. Oak Bay Seafood will have fresh, seasonal seafood available and Chef on the Run will have a variety of complimentary tasty bites. New this year, Mom’s Cake Cafe will present a variety of cake slices and cupcakes for sale to satisfy any sweet tooth.

“We’ll have the two parking lots for seating and live music again,” Leary said.

Entertainment includes live music by Twowheeler and Los Gringos Locos.

Two ice carvers, introduced last year, fill up a bigger space this year.

“People can watch the sculptures develop over the four hours.”

This year’s iteration also includes an adjacent new vintage fair put on by Lazy Susan’s from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fourteen vendors will share wares including vintage clothing, jewelry, housewares, vinyl, collectibles, toys, Tiki and more.

Oak Bay Village Spring Nosh runs June 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oak Bay Avenue.
