The Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) is calling on authors to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Emerging Local Authors Collection.
The collection highlights the creativity and innovation of the local literary scene, offering a space where emerging voices can be celebrated and shared.
“This is a momentous year for us as we celebrate a decade of supporting and showcasing the incredible talent in our community,” librarian Cheryl Landry said in a news release. “The Emerging Local Authors Collection has grown into a vibrant showcase of diverse voices and genres, and we’re eager to continue the tradition of connecting local authors with readers looking to discover something new and special.”
Since its inception, the collection has featured more than 1,450 unique titles from more than 1,000 southern Vancouver Island authors and illustrators representing fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s books, cookbooks and graphic novels.
“Reaching this 10-year milestone is a true celebration of the incredible creativity that thrives in our community," librarian Lucia Gambetti-Bracco said. "Whether you're publishing your first book or your tenth, we're here to help you share your work with a broader audience. There's no better time to showcase your story and leave your mark as part of this unique collection.”
Books from the 2024 Emerging Local Authors Collection are available at the Central Branch and by ebook.
Now through Jan. 19, 2025, south Island authors and illustrators can submit their published works for consideration.
