A section of Prospect Lake Road will be closed to all vehicle traffic from Aug. 18 to Sept. 12 as crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The closure affects about 200 metres of road between 4385 and 4433 Prospect Lake Rd. and will require drivers to take a significant detour. The full detour route takes roughly 25 minutes to complete and includes Interurban Road, Helmcken Road and Burnside Road West.
The culvert replacement is part of a drainage improvement project on Trevlac Brook, where the existing structure will be removed and replaced with a larger one.
Saanich says the work is necessary to improve stormwater flow and restore the road.
Signage marking the closure dates will be posted at seven locations near Prospect Lake Road. Drivers are advised to follow posted directions, as there is limited space for vehicles to turn around.
