The third annual Open a Door art auction for Habitat for Humanity Victoria runs now through May 24.

A series of reimagined doors and furniture are up for grabs in the third annual Open a Door charity art auction now through May 24.

Habitat Victoria invited local artists to create using pieces from the organization’s Victoria or Westshore ReStore locations. Artists were free to transform their chosen item – regardless of material or style – into a one-of-a-kind work of art. The result is a vibrant collection of pieces that reflect each artist’s vision of a brighter future available for purchase by auction.

"At Habitat Victoria, we believe in opening doors to new possibilities," interim CEO Krista Bekkema said in a news release. "This creative and community-driven event is a powerful way to support our mission of helping families move from renting to owning, giving them the stability and security they deserve."

Habitat for Humanity Victoria is a registered charity that brings communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. Founded in 1990, Habitat Victoria has built 34 homes locally and served 38 families.

The art pieces are on display in the centre court of Mayfair Shopping Centre, 3147 Douglas St., where visitors can place bids instantly using mobile devices.

“Mayfair Shopping Centre is honoured to host Habitat Victoria’s Open a Door fundraiser and support the noble cause of affordable homeownership,” general manager May Wang said. “Together, we open doors to brighter futures and stronger communities.”

All pieces are also available for viewing and bidding online at habitatvictoria.com/openadoor.
