Here are two orchestral and ensemble events this Thanksgiving weekend in Greater Victoria

The Palm Court Light Orchestra presents Autumn Reflections, a Thanksgiving concert

When: Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.
Where: Dave Dunnet Community Theatre (Oct. 12), and Mary Winspear (Oct. 13)
What: Now in its 37th season of presenting light classical music, the Palm Court Light Orchestra from Cowichan Bay presents a programme of waltzes, marches and show tunes. This includes selections from Ivor Neville's The Dancing Years and Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun. They are to be joined by mezzo-soprano Kiiri Michelsen.

Multicultural Wind Ensemble concert of global music traditions

When: Saturday, Oct. 12, from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Where: Christ Church Cathedral, Quadra at Rockland

What: This concert features a fusion of sounds, instruments and musical traditions from Iran, Japan, China and beyond. World-renowned musicians in the ensemble include Amir Eslami (Iran, Canada) who is a master of the Ney, a traditional Persian wind instrument; Alcvin Ryuzen Ramos (Japan, Canada), an expert Shakuhachi player, aka a Japanese bamboo flute; and Zhongxi Wu (China, Canada) an acclaimed performer of traditional Chinese reed instruments.
