PHOTOS: 40-plus live acts, roaming performers thrill crowds at FernFest

The festival's 3 stages draws in hundreds of spectators

FernFest wrapped up Saturday (June 14) after two days of art, community, and a steady stream of live performance.

Colouring Fernwood Square from June 13 to 14, the neighbourhood festival put on by Fernwood NRG saw 40-plus live acts over three stages, 90-plus local vendors, food trucks, live painting, a kids zone and more.

Crowds flocked out to listen, shop, sway, spin, dance, eat and connect during the festival's 28th year.

A highlight for many was the calibre and diversity of performances at the three stages, with almost every danceable genre on the lineup, including blues-rock, synth-pop, funk, world-beat, folk, jazz and hip-hop.

A hearty mix of dance and performance added excitement to the festival, with cultural groups representing Africa, Mexico, the Lekwungen dancers, and more, plus a drag hour, storytelling, booths and roaming performers from groups like Kaleidoscope Theatre, Island Circus Space, Pop-Acro Yoga and Sunshine Clowns.
