PHOTOS: Highland Pacific Golf Course gets refresher on accessibility

The course offers a paragolfer to help players with mobility restrictions

Staff at Highland Pacific Golf Course had a refresher training session on the club’s paragolfer device Tuesday (June 13) as they get ready for the busy summer season.

The course has offered the device – which allows people with limited or no ability to stand on their own to move around the course and be held in a proper swinging position – for several years now in partnership with the RAD Recreation Adapted Society. It is one of several courses in the region to offer it.

RAD founder Tanelle Bolt was on hand to explain the ins and outs of the machine, provide demonstrations and tips as a wheelchair user herself, and answer any questions the course staff had as they tried it out for themselves or practised making adjustments a client may require.

As the course has only one paragolfer and staff must be on hand to help the client get set up, guests wishing to use it are encouraged to contact general manager Jeff Palmer directly at jeff@highlandpacificgolf.com or 250-478-4653 x. 106.

More information on the services and devices RAD offers is available at www.radsociety.ca.
