Scott Keanie, the owner of Scotty's Dog Shack in Sidney has died.

On July 4, Keanie was rushed to hospital after suffering a severe heart attack and placed on life support. Six days later, the family made an update on the restaurant's Facebook page, stating he was still in critical condition but showing signs of improvement after open heart surgery.

On Monday night (July 15), Keanie's daughter Cheslea made another post to let the community know Keanie had died.

"Scott was the heart and soul of our community whose vibrant spirit, boundless charisma, and genuine warmth left an incredible mark on everyone he met," the Facebook post reads. "He found joy in creating music with his band, being out on the water, connecting with his community through his restaurants and, above all, adoring his grandchildren."

Before Keanie died, a close family friend, Tammi Donison started a GoFundMe page with a goal of $15,000 to support the family. As of just after 9 p.m. on Monday night, $14,035 had been raised.

"His absence leaves a profound void in all our hearts and in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him… whether it was lifelong friendships or just a quick stop for a hot dog," the post continues. "As we grieve this tragic loss, we find solace in the memories of his incredible life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man whose passions and kindness to all defined his life."

The family will release details in the future as to when Scotty's Dog Shack will reopen.
