The Annual Oak Bay Merrython on Sunday (Dec. 3) saw decent weather and a great turnout for its 1 km, 4 km, and 8 km race.

Nico Bernardi, a UVic law student, took a quick lead and was the winner of the 8 km race.
“Coming from Ontario, it was amazing to run a December race in a t-shirt and in the sunshine! So lovely,” said Bernardi.
The event, taking off and finishing at Henderson Recreation Centre, is hosted by the Rotary Club of Oak Bay.
“I’m really grateful for all the volunteers out marking the turns and for the cyclist who led me through the course,” said Bernardi. “I got a kick out of the jazzercise warmup.”
It was a community effort with Rotary Club of Oak Bay, Recreation Oak Bay, Oak Bay Police, and St John Ambulance all coming out to support and help.
