A trio of Greater Victoria residents are set to compete on the latest edition of the television show Canada’s Got Talent.

Originally from South Africa, singer and musician Holly Melville, 25, now lives in Victoria and hopes to wow the judges with her performance. Comedian Maninder Waraich plans to stand up to the judges and zoologist Dr. Brad Gooseberry plans to educate the judges on Canadian wildlife.

The three are on the cast for the Canada’s Got Talent’s Million Dollar Season which spotlights 116 acts as they face judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus and Kardinal Offishall – and compete to win the grand prize.

There are 13 acts from across the province vying for the $1 million prize. The only other Vancouver Island talent on the show is the Funkanometry from Nanaimo who already achieved some television fame. The hip-hop and popping dance duo was previously on the 2022 season of America’s Got Talent and was eliminated in the semifinals.

The season starts March 19 on CityTV or streamed on the app CityTV Plus. It wraps with a live two-hour finale on May 14 from the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ont.
