Break out the tuxedos and gowns

The Canadian College of Performing Arts gives you the chance to act out your James Bond fantasy.

Games of chance, prizes, auctions and glam to the extreme are in order at the college’s Casino Royale night this Saturday (Feb. 5) at the Hotel Grand Pacific.

Chicoutimi quartet performing at UVic

The Quebec-based Alcan String Quartet performs Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Philip T. Young recital hall at the University of Victoria.

Haydn, Mendelssohn and a newly commissioned work by Canadian composer Airat Ichmouratov are on the playlist for the concert, which begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets, $20.50 and $24.50, are available at the door or through the UVic ticket office, 250-721-8480.

Lapin au vin anyone?

Metal artist Jan Johnson plays with irony in an exhibit dedicated to the Chinese lunar year of the rabbit.

Pets N Meat features Johnson’s surreal figurative work at Collective Works Gallery, 1311 Gladstone Ave. in Fernwood Village. Opening reception is Friday (Feb. 4) at 7 p.m.
