The Islands Folk Festival at Providence Farm in Duncan.

The 40th annual Islands Folk Festival in Duncan is set for three days of music, culture and community against the beautiful backdrop of Providence Farm from July 19-21.

This year's featured artists include folk legends Valdy, James Keelaghan and Eileen McGann, new folk heroes Big Little Lions, Scotland’s Shooglenifty, New Zealand’s Mel Parsons, blues icon Murray Porter, and the Sacred Steel Summit Revue featuring The Lee Boys and Calvin Cooke.

Folkies old and young will be able to enjoy the festival. The Sparkle Zone/Wee Folks Area will cater to the little ones with crafts, games, interactive performances, a slip and slide and the kids' parade. Kids under 12 can also get into the festival for free.

For those who want the earthiest experience, there is full, family-friendly camping on-site with space for tents and RVs, steps away from the Islands Stage and the Sparkle Zone.

There's also an opportunity to get immersed in the music hands-on with the festival's workshops, which include songwriting and storytelling sessions.

And of course, there will be no shortage of music with other notable performers including Firebird, Twin Embers, Clanna Morna, Tai Williams, Infinite Atom, Ed Peekeekoot, Jenny Allen, Claire Coupland, Shineolas, Hardly Handsome, From the Earth, Luke Wallace, King Cardiac, Eugene Smith, Richard Garvey, Marina Avros, Ghostly Hounds, Desmond Day, Eileen McGann, Dave Gallant, The Tzinquaw Dancers, and the Lila Community Choir.

More information on the lineup, tickets, and volunteer opportunities can be found at islandsfolkfestival.ca or the festival office at (250) 748-3975.
