A popular Victoria funk band brings the boogie back to Oak Bay to kick off the year in music at Oak Bay Rec.
Known as a hard-driving, party-hearty quintet, Groove Kitchen takes the stage in the Upstairs Lounge on Jan. 11.
The band is admired for its tight, rhythmically in-the-pocket sound and dancers love the mix of music, which ranges from interpretations of classics by Maceo Parker, Stevie Wonder and James Brown to reinventions of contemporary tunes by Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake.
The Upstairs Lounge at Oak Bay Rec is a licensed restaurant and bar. Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner with the performance at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite at the rec centre (1975 Bee St.) or by phone at 250-595-7946.
