Colwood’s food truck and music festival, Eats and Beats, will celebrate its 10th anniversary when it returns in July for a day packed with grub, grooves and spectacular ocean views.
The free summer celebration will be hosted at The Beachlands, in the Royal Bay area, on Saturday, July 26, from 1 to 7 p.m.
There will be music by five live bands, a food truck festival offering visitors a sample of flavours from around the world and beachside beverages served by Victoria Beer Society.
Among the line-up delivering the grooves are local rock cover legends Kooler, disco sensation Tight Hair Disco, funky tribute band Nautical Disaster, and renowned Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute, Completely Creedence.
The Lekwungen Traditional Dancers will also open the day, welcoming folks to their traditional territory.
While enjoying the beverages, eats and beats, folks are encouraged to take part in other free activities, including beach games with West Shore Parks and Recreation and bucket pong. Anyone feeling adventurous can take home a temporary memory of the day by getting a henna tattoo from Karelia Sunflower Designs.
And if the temperature starts to sizzle, the ocean is only steps away for people to cool off in.
Free parking will be available at Royal Bay Secondary School or the parking area below Quality Foods, where three free beach bus shuttles will operate all day.
Residents can also take transit, walk, bike or kayak to the beach party.
