Known for his animated energy and quirky style, Jesse Roper’s newest music video will likely come as no surprise to his fans.
Decked out in a red three-piece suit and matching retro aviator glasses, Roper belts out his latest single Hold On Me to a church congregation devoted not to worshipping God, but his “sweet lady.”
“The video was definitely not my idea but I love it. I’m a silly human at heart and the idea of putting on a suit and acting like an evangelist worshipping my sweet lady really toots my horn,” the Metchosin-based bluesman said in a release.
He’s hopeful the video and soon-to-be-released remainder of his new EP Hold on Me, will help to launch him from the long pandemic lull, he told Black Press Media.

Hardly getting to perform live for two years is hard on someone who craves the stage.
“I miss it so much,” Roper said. “It’s the highest high and I can’t get it anywhere else.”
Still, he said, the pandemic hasn’t been all bad. It’s given him time to separate himself from criticism and outside opinions and refocus on his craft.
“I’ve kind of had a lot of time to practice,” he said jokingly. “Especially vocalizing, I feel like I’ve really dialed it in. I really want to go show that off.”
He’s set to try out some of his new material during this Saturday’s (Feb. 5) mostly sold out rescheduled live show, Solo Soiree, at the Royal Theatre. From there, Roper is crossing his fingers 2022 is the year live music returns in full.
