While the secret menu of Big Wheel Burger is not as secret as it sounds, it does takes some ingenuity to find it online.
Pssssst, here’s a clue: look for the little blue face. The rest you will have to figure out yourself.
The secret menu has been around since the opening of Big Wheel Burger in 2011 as a way to spice up the value, says Sarah Henry, who works the counter at Big Wheel Burger’s Saanich location.
“It is definitely a word-of-mouth thing,” she says.
So what is popular off the secret menu? Two items stand out: the 18-Wheeler, a behemoth hamburger that consists of three patties, one hot dog, three slices of cheese with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and sauce stuffed between two grilled cheese sandwiches. The other is the Ghost Burger, a cheeseburger spiced up with house-made hot sauce made out of ghost peppers.
Henry says her store sells at least one of the sandwiches per day, mostly from regulars.
