The cause of a blaze that destroyed a combined garage and workshop late Saturday in North Saanich remains under investigation.
Firefighters from North Saanich Volunteer Fire Department were called to Madrona Drive on April 19 shortly before 10:30 p.m. for a fully involved building fire.
A total of 23 local firefighters attended, with mutual aid coming from Sidney and Central Saanich departments.
“Crews did a quick knockdown and had the fire under control within 20 minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby trees and other structures,” said Steve Sorensen, director of emergency services. “The building and contents were a total loss along with two vehicles.”
