Students from communities around British Columbia prove to be at the head of the class at the National Skills Canada Competition in Quebec City last Friday.

Those taking part in the competition showed their stuff in an Olympic-style competition which showcases students’ technical and leadership skills in a variety of disciplines.

A total of 23 students from around the province placed in the top three in each of their skill specific categories, including computer animation, aircraft maintenance, auto body repair, electronics, fashion technology and a host of other trades.

Skills Canada BC took its team to the national competition, many with hopes of representing Canada on the world stage in London, England, at a competition taking place from Oct. 4 to 8.

Eight students from B.C. will now make the trip to the worlds after winning gold in Quebec.
