The Sidney Museum will have several Lego-themed activities including a scavenger hunt running all Family Day long weekend.
The museum will feature activities for families and children of all ages and hundreds of Lego models. To pick up a Beacon Avenue Scavenger Hunt, participants can visit the museum.
“With our popular Lego Brick Exhibition returning for its 18th consecutive year, we are very excited to continue what has become a community of tradition,” museum executive director Micheal Goodchild, said in a news release. “Lego has a remarkable ability to appeal to nearly any age and interest, from real-world architecture to references and beloved movies and TV shows. Working on the exhibit and Family Day activities is a real treat and our team is looking forward to sharing in everyone’s excitement.”
Businesses and organizations from all over town will have Lego sets on display in their windows and storefronts. Tiny-brick-toy lovers have the chance to win Lego prizes if they find all of the displays around town.
In addition, the Sidney Museum welcomes back Robin Sather, one of Canada’s only Lego-certified professionals. Sather will be at the museum over the weekend building a six-foot Lego model of local landmarks including Sidney’s Pier and the Fish Market. Visitors can drop in and say hello while the master builder is at work.
The fan-favourite Peninsula Co-op’s community mosaic is also returning to the Sidney Museum. Visitors can contribute a piece to the work of art, which will eventually be showcased at a local Peninsula Co-op location.
After visitors have taken in the sights and activities at the museum, they can stroll on down to the Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa’s Sallas Room where the Victoria Lego Users Group will be set up with a variety of dioramas, from fairground attractions to modular cities.
Family Day long weekend events run Feb. 16 to 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find the Sidney Museum at 2423 Beacon Ave., on the lower level of the Old Post Office building.
