A Saanich Peninsula singer and pianist serves up his second course cooking on television – without reheating any leftovers.
Michael Kaeshammer’s summer 2023 endeavour – the television show Kaeshammer’s Kitchen – followed a fondness for cooking founded on the road. He discovered a passion for cooking while trying to find solid meals of a more thoughtful variety, not fast food.
Putting ingredients together and crafting something sans recipe fostered a passion for cooking that spawned the six-episode series last fall.
Kaeshammer embarks on his second season Sept. 7 with twice as many episodes – hitting a baker’s dozen – cooking with guests from iconic Canadian rocker Colin James to two-time 2024 JUNO Award winner Aysanabee.
Kaeshammer and celebrity guests make magic in the kitchen then take the stage for a musical performance.
“This show is the perfect way for me to combine my two passions: music and food. The 13 episodes of Season 2 give me a chance to re-connect with artists I’ve previously crossed paths with as well as form new friendships with I haven’t yet met. I’m excited for this current season to air and can’t wait to put together the guest list and recipes for season 3,” he said.
Kaeshammer’s Kitchen premiers Sept. 7 on Chek TV locally, as well as nationally on YES TV and Channel Zero.
Guests include James, pop star Tyler Shaw, neo-soul artist Katie Tupper, songwriting master Donovan Woods, legendary musician Chuck Leavell (longtime musical director and touring member of The Rolling Stones, and former member of The Allman Brothers Band), Jill Barber, Grammy Award winner Mike Farris, JUNO-nominated Matt Anderson and Aysanabee.
Kaeshammer himself has earned seven JUNO nominations, and has captivated audiences around the world, highlighted by nine tours of China, countless shows opposite international superstars, and three appearances at the Olympics.
