A burnt-out taillight proved to be the downfall for a 50-year-old man when he was pulled over by West Shore RCMP.

Inside his GMC Yukon officers observed open liquor, prompting an impaired driving investigation on the evening of Aug. 17.

Following a search of the vehicle, officers seized a small amount of suspected oxycontin pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a firearm and brass knuckles.

While the driver was determined to be sober, RCMP say he was arrested in relation to drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of the firearm and a prohibited weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect was later released on an undertaking with an upcoming court appearance.
