The Esquimalt division of the Victoria Police Department has a new officer in charge after Insp. Conor King took the helm on July 21. He is taking over for Michael Brown, who was promoted to deputy chief.
“I’m excited to be working in Esquimalt,” said King in a news release. “I believe policing is about being a part of the community; keeping people safe, so a community can reach its full potential. That’s a responsibility I take seriously.”
King brings 27 years of policing experience to the role, with a background including time spent working in the patrol division, community services division and investigative services division where he spent the last four years overseeing the VicPD’s specialized investigation teams.
VicPD Esquimalt Division comprises community resource officers for outreach, the traffic section providing increased visibility, operations planning for events and demonstrations, as well as school police liaison officers.
“I'm looking forward to connecting with the community and building on the strong relationships already established,” King added in the release.
