Saanich family, Katie and Ryan, is seeking community support as their 6-month-old daughter, Faith, battles a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

A Saanich family is seeking community support as they face challenging times with their 6-month-old daughter, Faith, who is battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

After a long journey with infertility Katie and Ryan welcomed their daughter, Faith, into the world after going through in vitro fertilization. However, a few months following her birth, their daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 malignant rhabdoid tumour, which has spread to her lungs.

Faith has been receiving treatment in the ICU at BC Children’s Hospital since her diagnosis on Oct. 18.

To help ease the emotional and financial strain on the family, friends and loved ones of the young couple are organizing a fundraiser at Saanich’s Boston Pizza (3510 Blanshard St.) this Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Katie’s former coworkers will be donating their tips and wages, while $10 from every pizza sold, including takeout and delivery, will go towards supporting the family. There will also be a raffle with prizes from local businesses and a bottle drive for those unable to attend.

Community members are encouraged to participate in the event to help the family during this difficult time. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to Katie, Ryan, and Faith as they navigate this challenging period.
